Family pack or enchilada-only tray?
A cheaper tray can become the dearer order once you add sides. Both options below contain 12 enchiladas. Choose cheese or chicken to compare the listed pack with an à la carte tray plus a pint each of rice and beans.
Complete cheese pack
12 enchiladas, a pint of rice, a pint of beans, salsa and tostadas.
Tray with sides added
For cheese enchiladas, the complete pack costs $4.98 less than the enchilada-only tray plus those two sides. Salsa and tostadas are also included in the pack.
Menu-price comparison before tax and fees. It does not assume that a tray feeds more people just because it has a lower starting price. If you already have rice and beans at home, the enchilada-only tray remains an option.
The afternoon mini menu
Available only after 4 p.m. Monday–Friday, and all day Saturday–Sunday. These are mini orders, not the full plates listed above.

Green chile strips add $2 to the mini quesadilla order. The $15.99 Mini Sampler combines four mini tacos, four mini enchiladas, four mini quesadillas and four mini flautas, with no substitutions. Confirm availability before a pickup trip.
L & J family packs
These packs serve up to four. Taco and enchilada packs contain 12 pieces; the flauta pack contains 16. Each comes with rice, beans, salsa and tostadas.

Flauta packs include guacamole and sour cream. Shredded beef adds $4 to the pack’s base price.
One pack, four individual plates
Four chicken enchilada plates at $12.49 each total $49.96. The $40 chicken enchilada pack also contains 12 enchiladas, a difference of $9.96 before tax and fees.
The sides are packaged differently: four individual meals versus shared pints in the pack. Compare that format as well as the number of enchiladas.
Individual plates can make more sense
A family pack is one shared dish. It is less useful if one person wants mole enchiladas, another wants a relleno plate, and someone else wants a burger.
Use the pack for a group that wants the same main. For a mixed order, choosing individual plates avoids paying for a large pack that only part of the table will eat.
Choose by the meal you want
There is no need to make every first visit the same order. The differences below are in the plate itself, rather than an invented “best dish” ranking.
One sauce, one main
Green chicken enchiladas keep the decision simple: three enchiladas with rice and beans. Choose this when you want a sauced tortilla plate rather than a sampler of several dishes.

The Mexican Combination adds a relleno, taco, flauta and chile verde con carne alongside an enchilada. It costs $3.50 more than the chicken enchilada plate and gives you a broader mix.

The old place by the graveyard
From Tony’s Place to L & J
Antonio O. Flores and his wife Juanita are part of the restaurant’s founding story. Tony’s Place dates to 1927; Lilia F. Duran and her husband John G. Duran took over in June 1968 and renamed it L & J Cafe.
The restaurant describes its cooking as border regional Mexican food. Its family history now spans four generations.
Concordia Cemetery
The cemetery across East Missouri Avenue explains the cafe’s long-standing nickname. It is a useful landmark when finding the restaurant, as well as a separate part of El Paso’s history.
Plan the meal around the cafe’s opening hours. A cemetery visit is a separate stop, rather than a restaurant attraction included with your meal.
