The Texas House’s 2025 centennial resolution distinguishes the dates: Martin Kapchinskie began the travel-stop business in 1925, while the present red-brick building and pit date to about 1939. The resolution records historical-landmark recognition in 2005. That history explains the setting without describing the pit itself as a century old.
